I am Robbie McCoy, owner of Desert Light Weddings, an event and wedding planning business.   Although owning my own business is fairly new, my experience in business is not.  I have been working for more years than I care to say, with the past 20 being in very crucial IT technical roles. Although I love the challenges in my technical field, I decided I wanted to use my organizational, planning, and problem solving skills in a casual and happy setting.  What is more exciting and happy than a wedding?

It takes a certain type of individual to be a successful wedding and event planner. More to the point, it absolutely requires a distinct and diverse skill set to be effective at planning and coordination. My years in the business world, along with my personal life experiences have left me with precisely the tools I need to be effective as a coordinator.

On the personal side, other than my early years growing up in Ohio and a 4 year period by the beach in California, the Phoenix area has been my home.  I have a beautiful daughter and amazing grandson who live about 3 miles from me.  My daughter is ‘in training’ to learn the planning business and some day when I decide to retire and relax on a beach, she can take over for me.    I share my life with my guy (and mentor) Matthew, owner of Raffisson Studio, who is also part of Bizeworks.   The things I enjoy doing in my spare time are exercising, playing with our ‘creatures’ (kitties and bird), and anything relaxing. 

Event and wedding planning has exposed me to new people and opportunities.   I can honestly say I love what I do.
